Carolyn Cassady (1923-2013)22 settembre 2013
She was born Carolyn Robinson on April 23, 1923 in Lansing, Michigan the youngest of five. The family moved to Nashville, Tennessee when she was nine. Later in life, after her husband Neal passed away and her children were grown, Carolyn made her home in England. She’d often recount the tale of how ever since she was a child she was fascinated by English history and myth and the chivalry of King Arthur’s Court and The Knights of The Round Table.
Carolyn passed away on September 20th at 6pm local time in a hospital near her home in Bracknell, England. Her son John Allen Cassady, who had been living with his mother for the last few months while keeping her family apprised daily, was holding her hand when she died.
Because Carolyn passed away on a Friday afternoon major media outlets have yet to pick up the story. That will likely change by Monday. In the meantime the very best article you’re going to read comes from Cassady family friend Brian Hassett. For three months in 2012 Brian lived with Carolyn in her home an hour outside of London. Brian went there with the intention of care-taking for Carolyn but in the end discovered Carolyn, as always, gave a lot more than she ever asked in return.
